Brianna Lane Tiny Desk Contest Entry With An Assist From Banjo BrosOn January 19th 2015 - Banjo Brothers teamed up with Minneapolis-based musician Brianna Lane to create an entry for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Contest. NPR started its Tiny Desk Concert series in 2008. The series has featured more than 300 performances at the Desk of Bob Boilen, the host of NPR's All Songs Considered.The winner of the Tiny Desk Contest will travel to Washington, DC in March to play thier own Tiny Desk concert at NPR studios and to Austin, Texas to play at the Lagunitas Brewing CouchTrippin’ showcase.For those who know Banjo Brothers, the pairing is a natural, because of Banjo Brothers' Tiny Bikeshop Concert Series, which was started in 2011 and was inpired by NPR's Tiny Desk Series.Lane and her partner Greg Neis have played an instrumental role in helping Bajo Brothers develop the series, fine-tuning the format, introducing them to new artists and spreading the word about Banjo Brothers throughout their slice...

A Tiny Tour: King Mulhacen's Summertime Adventure With Banjo BrothersOur names are Henry Bartholomay and Sean Lemkey, and we are King Mulhacen. We’re here to tell you a little about ourselves and about our most recent journey as friends and as a band. To tell this story correctly we have to turn the clock back to the summer of 2013, when the initial idea for a western tour was born. We were sitting in Sean’s Connecticut backyard, dreaming and scheming up big plans for what we would do the following summer after graduating from Fordham University--that overwhelming open-ended question that plagues most impending graduates. Fresh off of our independent journeys completing the Camino de Santiago, and our first day of recording our debut LP, we hatched our next big adventure.It was to be a road-trip/tour for the books, 2 months on the road, a Volkswagen van (yet to be purchased), backpacking, and shows all across the west--not to mention filming a documentary throughout the process. Why Does Banjo Brothers Spend So Much Time Talking About Bikes + MusicIn 2011 Banjo Brothers launched the Tiny Bikeshop Concert Series at Calhoun Cycle in Minneapolis. For the past three years we've worked hard, putting on 16 concerts in 9 different states. We've worked this great artists like Brianna Lane, Peter Mulvey, Ann Reed, Ben Weaver, Dan Chouinard and King Mulhancen.On October 11th 2014, the staff of Banjo Brothers traveled to Washington D.C. for a Tiny Bikeshop Concert at BicycleSPACE. The staff of BicycleSPACE put together this video. We think it captures the true essence of the Tiny Bikeshop Concerts.
