Lesson # 2: Will This Frame Pack Fit My Bicycle?

The Banjo Brothers have made ready-to-fit Frame Bags or sometimes referred to as Frame Packs since 2011. One of the most common questions we get from cyclists, is, "will such and such frame pack fit my bike?"

Currently, Banjo Brothers offer five models of frame packs:

Small: model number #01063
Medium: model number #01064 and in canvas, model number #05013
Large: model number #01071 and in canvas, model number #05014

FINDING THE RIGHT SIZE BAG FOR THE RIGHT USE

For small or medium sized frame packs will require you 15-16" of space on the underside of the downtube to fit lengthwise. The Large Frame Pack, for comparison, with require 19".

HERE'S AN AWESOME WAY TO DETERMINE WHICH FRAME PACK WILL FIT YOUR BIKE.

Frame packs are great for bikepacking and gravel adventure riding but they are equally useful on commuter bicycles. For day-to-day riding, the small size (70 cubic inches) is a perfect size and will fit the widest range of bike frames. The medium pack offers more capacity (102 cubic inches) and is great for overnight bike camping and double century rides. The Large Banjo Brothers Frame Pack offers the most storage at 200 cubic inches. With some attention to detail, you can avoid most cable interference issues. With small and medium-sized frames, the installation might interfere with water bottle access. There are usually creative workarounds.

While we do list the product dimensions on each page most of the times these questions don't come in with enough supporting detail to actually answer the question. You see, we don't keep an exhaustive list of the bike makes and models, nor do we catalog the geometry of each frame and size. We decided it would be easier to make a series of DIY templates which can be printed out on common 8.5" x 11" office paper and taped together to make a life-sized template.
